Carroll County is a county located in the Mississippi Delta region of the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of 2000, the population is 10,769. Its county seats are Vaiden and Carrollton. It is part of the Greenwood, Mississippi Micropolitan Statistical Area. Carroll County is named for Charles Carroll of Carrollton, the last surviving signer of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.
As of the census of 2000, there were 10,769 people, 4,071 households, and 3,069 families residing in the county. The population density was 17 people per square mile (7/km²). There were 4,888 housing units at an average density of 8 per square mile (3/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 62.67% White, 36.61% Black or African American, 0.07% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.13% from other races, and 0.36% from two or more races. 0.73% of the populations were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
