BOLTON, MISSISSIPPI – Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) made the following statement regarding his vote on the Motion to Concur with the Senate amendments to H.R. 1424 - The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.

“Though I understand the urgent need for a package that rescues us from the failed economic policies of the Bush Administration, I believe it should address the fundamental credit concerns that caused this crisis.  I will not vote to give a golden parachute to high flying corporate executives who have taken advantage of hardworking Americans who only wanted to achieve the American dream of owning a home.  This bill offers no help for the homeowners who have already fallen victim to this credit crisis and offers no hope to those afraid that they may be next,” says Thompson.
