CONGRESSMAN THOMPSON ANNOUNCES FEDERAL FUNDS FOR COMBATING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN THE STATE

BOLTON, MISSISSIPPI – Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced that the United States Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women will be sending $84,821 in federal funding to the state of Mississippi.   The funds will be for the Mississippi Coalition Against Sexual Assault Program.

In particular the funds will support the State Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Coalitions Program.  Activities the grant will help include but are not limited to providing technical assistance to member agencies; expanding technological capacity for member agencies or the coalition itself; conducting statewide, regional and/or community-based meetings or workshops; and bringing local program together to identify gaps in services.
