Press Release: Congressman Bennie G. Thompson Announces Nomination to the United States Military Academy at West Point

May 23, 2024

BOLTON, MS –Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announces nomination to the United States Military Academy at West Point for the Second Congressional District.

Aidan Camillo has been nominated by United States Congressman Bennie G. Thompson. He is in Cadet Candidate Basic Training preparing to graduate from the United States Military Academy Preparatory School in 2024.  Aidan graduated from Clinton High School in May 2022. He is a member of the USMAPS soccer team and currently serves as the strength captain. Aidan has solidified himself as a leader among his peers through his dedication to academics, athletics and citizenship.  He possesses a strong work ethics that has defined his career at USMAPS and believe he is very deserving of this congressional nomination for acceptance to the United States Military Academy at West Point. His dreams of West Point started when he was nine years old, when he saw his brother, Grant, a West Point Class of 2018 graduate, in his uniform.  He knew then what he wanted to do with his life.  This dream stuck with Aidan and while his reasoning for staying here may have changed and most likely will continue to change, he will never forget the little boy who had a dream. Further, he will never forget the work required to achieve that goal. Adian will use his experiences at USMAPS to lead with strength and be the best leader he can be.  Being the best leader, he will also be the best suited to serve those who serve.  His hobbies include playing soccer, exercising, and leading others. Aidan is the son of Charles and Jennifer Camillo residing in Clinton, Mississippi.
