Congressman Bennie G. Thompson Announces $205,643 in National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Grants to Support Mississippi Arts Projects
BOLTON, MS – Congressman Bennie G. Thompson is proud to announce that the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has awarded two grants totaling $205,643 to arts initiatives in Mississippi under the ArtsHERE program. These grants, aimed at strengthening arts organizations and fostering cultural enrichment, will support projects in Natchez and Clarksdale. The Gloster Arts Project in Natchez has been awarded $75,643 to fund its REFRESH & REWIND initiative. This five-year strategic plan is guided by consultant recommendations and community feedback, with the goal of ensuring long-term impact. Key components include forming a new board of directors, creating a staff and volunteer training program, and building partnerships with local organizations. The Gloster Arts Project is dedicated to providing arts education and opportunities for youth, fostering cultural enrichment and community development through the arts. The Griot Arts Inc. in Clarksdale will receive $130,000 to support its capacity-building strategy. This initiative is designed to enhance organizational effectiveness by deepening community engagement, improving financial sustainability, and refining operational skills. Griot Arts empowers youth and the community through arts, education, and workforce development programs, creating a vibrant and inclusive environment for learning and personal growth.
