Congressman Bennie G. Thompson Announces Offer of Appointment to the United States Air Force Academy

BOLTON, MS –Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announces an offer of appointment to the United States Air Force Academy for the Second Congressional District.

Jacob Dillon Chavis has been nominated by United States Congressman Bennie G. Thompson to the US Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marines. He has received an appointment from the US Air Force Academy. He will graduate from Grenada High School, Grenada, MS in May 2022. He is currently a member of the National Honor Society. He has consistently maintained high honor roll status every year in high school. He has a GPA of 3.9 and has an ACT composite score of 26. Jacob is a member of the Student Council, NJROTC, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Varsity Football and Soccer team and Grenada's re-established Chess Club. His hobbies include, hunting, fishing, playing guitar and singing. He has proven academic and leadership skills as well as excellent analytical skills. He has also performed volunteer work for the Disaster Relief Clean Up for Neighbors, Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen and Christmas in April. Jacob is the son of Coop and Lori Chavis residing in Grenada, Mississippi.

Mr. Chavis received a "Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition" in recognition of his offer of appointment to the United States Air Force Academy and for outstanding academic achievement.
