CONGRESSMAN BENNIE G. THOMPSON ANNOUNCES OVER $20 MILLION AWARDED TO THE LEFLORE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

BOLTON, MISSISSIPPI – Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced The USDA Natural Resources Conservation has awarded $20,557,734 through the Watershed and Flood Prevention Operations (WFPO) Program to Leflore County Supervisor Districts 2, 4 & 5. These federal funds will be used to protect against increased flooding.

The scope of work will include channel improvements, drainage infrastructure, erosion control and the installation of a pump station.

District 4

Itta Bena Drainage Project

The scope of work will include a new pump station, drainage infrastructure, channel improvements and elevation repairs made to the proposed levee.

District 5

 Glendale Emergency

Drainage

Improvement Project

$7,336,639.00

The scope of work will include removal of existing pumps and culverts, excavation, erosion control, water pumping station and generator to run pump station during power outages.
