Congressman Bennie G. Thompson Announces Over $7.9 Million in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Grant Awards to Support Healthcare Initiatives in Mississippi

BOLTON, MS — Congressman Bennie G. Thompson is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded significant grant funding to healthcare organizations and programs within Mississippi’s Second Congressional District. These grants aim to improve maternal care coordination and opioid treatment programs across the state.

The following awards have been announced:

  • G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center, Inc.: Awarded $450,000 under the Delta Region Maternal Care Coordination Program to enhance maternal care services in the Delta region.
  • Delta Health Center, Inc.: Awarded $450,000 under the Delta Region Maternal Care Coordination Program to provide critical maternal health coordination services.
  • Mississippi State Department of Mental Health: Awarded $7,099,537 for Opioid Programs to support treatment and prevention programs addressing the opioid crisis in Mississippi.
