Congressman Bennie Thompson Announces $1,008,333 Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to Central Mississippi Civic Improvement Association, Inc.
Bolton, MS – Today, Congressman Bennie Thompson is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded a $1,008,333 grant to the Central Mississippi Civic Improvement Association, Inc. This funding is part of the Healthy Start Initiative, aimed at eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in maternal and child health. The Healthy Start Initiative is a critical program designed to improve health outcomes before, during, and after pregnancy, and to address the systemic health disparities that affect racial and ethnic minority communities. The grant awarded to the Central Mississippi Civic Improvement Association, Inc. will support efforts to reduce infant mortality rates, increase access to prenatal and postnatal care, and provide education and support services to mothers and families in Central Mississippi.
