Congressman Bennie Thompson Announces U. S. Department of Transportation Awards over $2. 3 Million to the State of Mississippi

Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration has authorized Emergency Relief (ER) funds in the amount of $195,993 for April 12, 2020 Statewide Storms and Flooding and $2,167,318.92 for February 22, 2019 Flooding Damage to the State of Mississippi.

These funds will be used to repair or reconstruction of Federal-aid highways and roads on Federal lands that have suffered serious damage as a result of natural disasters or catastrophic failures from an external cause. Eligible repair work includes emergency repairs needed to restore essential traffic, minimize the extent of damage, or protect the remaining facilities as well as permanent repairs necessary to restore the highway to its pre-disaster condition.
