Congressman Responds to Attacks on the Bipartisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), former Chairman of the bipartisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, released the below statement regarding repeated attacks on the work of the Committee:

“For months now, Representative Loudermilk’s committee has been on a mission to discredit the Select Committee’s work in the service of Donald Trump. He is attempting to exonerate the ex-President by laundering conspiracy theories, such as supposedly missing records. But the bottom line is that Representative Loudermilk has all of the Select Committee’s archived records, and Mr. Trump has access to all of the Special Counsel’s evidence—including that shared by the Select Committee—through the discovery process. I refuse to speculate on this latest fever dream by Trump apologists.”
