Congressman Thompson Announced $119,540 in U. S. Department of Justice Funds

BOLTON, MISSISSIPPI – Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced the U. S. Department of Justice has awarded $119,540 in grant funds through the Office of Justice Program to Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety will use grant funds to purchase two vehicles, which will be assigned to the Mississippi Sexual Offender Registry Unit. The vehicles will be used to aid in conducting absconder investigations. In addition, grant funds will support a statewide symposium for all Mississippi Sherriff’s offices and criminal justice agency personnel responsible for sex offender registration.
