African Americans – Call to Action
April 30, 2025
Since January 20, 2025, the Trump Administration has worked hard to hide the truth about Black America by attacking DEI programs, burying our history, and targeting the places that share our stories. One man can’t erase our legacy. He is who he is, the proof is in his messages, policies, and actions.
Trump’s Messaging and Actions
- In 1989, he called for the death penalty for the Central Park Five teens wrongly accused of a crime. DNA evidence proved their innocence. They are suing Trump for defamation.
- In 2016, Trump told black voters, “You’re living in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs… What the hell do you have to lose?”
- In 2020, after the murder of George Floyd, he called Black Lives Matter protesters “Thugs and terrorists,” but called January 6 rioters “patriots” and pardoned them on January 20, 2025.
Trump’s Policies
- In 2025, he ended DEI programs in federal agencies that hurt workplace inclusion for Black Americans.
- In 2025, he rolled back criminal justice reforms, ended fair housing policies, and reduced anti-discrimination protections.
- In 2025, he oversaw Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s unlawful deportation to El Salvador and told President Nayib Bukele, “Homegrowns are next.”
My Call to Action for Black America: Many policies that help Black Americans in housing, jobs, education, and the legal system are being removed, making it harder to succeed. I plan to “Get into good trouble…” because we are not going back to counting jellybeans for the right to vote.
