Congressman Thompson to Participate in Tyson Foods Truckload of Protein to Mid-South Food Bank Donation

Tyson Foods, Inc. is donating a truckload of protein to Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis, Tennessee to help alleviate hunger in north Mississippi. The donated food will be distributed among the Food Bank’s partners that provide daily meals and food pantry services to food insecure residents.

The event is significant because:

  • Mid-South Food Bank provides food for an estimated 230,000 different people across 31 counties.
  • Mississippi has a food insecurity rate of 20.8 percent, the highest in the nation
  • Tyson Foods has donated more than 100 million pounds of protein since 2000
  • Tyson Foods employs approximately 5,600 Team Members in Mississippi
