CONGRESSMAN BENNIE THOMPSON EXPECTS HELP FOR JACKSON WATER CUSTOMERS
(Washington D.C.) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson released the following information regardingthe omnibus government funding legislation for Fiscal Year 2023. The Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2023 includes $27 billion in emergency funding to respond to the devastation that recent natural disasters and extreme weather events have left behind. There will be $600 million allocated to address the water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi. The omnibus appropriations package will include a supplement that will benefit the City of Jackson water customers, which $150 million will be designated for technical assistance and $450 million will be used for capital projects. “I look forward to voting for the complete omnibus package. I am proud to support the $600 million that will be included in the omnibus bill to help Jackson, Mississippi. In addition to the $600 million, Jackson will also receive additional funding from the omnibus bill, which I look forward to voting for on Thursday, December 22, 2022.” |
