February 1, 2024

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Bennie Thompson (MS-02) voted to support H.R. 7024, the bipartisan Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act, to support Mississippi families, fight against childhood poverty, and extend the transformational Child Tax Credit.

According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, this bill will benefit nearly 16 million children nationwide and could potentially help bring relief to millions of families dealing with financial hardships.Estimates show that 205,000 children across Mississippi – and 66,000 children in Mississippi’s Second Congressional District – will benefit from this expansion.

"I voted to support this bipartisan bill because it is a step in the right direction," stated Congressman Thompson. "Taking this step means that we can continue to fight against childhood poverty and make a difference in the lives of families throughout Mississippi."
