High Alert

This is an important message for constituents of the Second Congressional District and Mississippians all across the State. The Coronavirus also called COVID-19 does not know anything about country borders, state line or any boundaries. By now we all know COVID-19 is not a hoax and never was. I joined fellow Democrats early on, in the fight. Our strategy is to listen to the experts, learn the facts, and respond with resources like American lives depend on it. We are focused on saving lives, supporting families, and small businesses. On Friday, March 27, 2020, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was signed in to as a response. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has warned us saying, "Things will get worse before they get better." We all play a role in beating this ugly and deadly virus.

Informed people are one of the best defenses against beating COVID-19. So, to keep you informed, let me start by telling you what you can do and about other credible sources of information. As news continues to come forward, I will continue to share it with you through my Congressional Website, Twitter, and Facebook social media accounts. However, if you have any questions, call Dr. Timla G. Washington, PhD, my Human Capital Developer for the Mississippi Second Congressional District by email twashington@mail.house.gov or by phone at (662) 335-9003.

Everyone Practice Social Distancing

As your federal Congressman, my job is essential; it is my responsibility to help save lives and our country through legislative actions like the passing of the CARES Act. While doing so, this means I practice social distancing. However, I am asking all Mississippians to help us by practicing social distancing (e.g., work from home when possible, call instead of visiting in person, etc.). This virus is racing across America leaving its unforgettable mark everywhere (i.e., taking lives, putting a strain on our health care system and workers on the front line, jeopardizing our economy, and way of life).
