Proposed Healthcare Cuts

The Trump Administration will cut $880 billion from Medicaid. The Medicaid program is funded by the federal government to the states. Mississippi officials have refused to expand Medicaid. This means that many Mississippians will be left without healthcare coverage. A common misconception is that Medicaid is for poor people. 601,887 Mississippians rely on Medicaid and CHIP. 84,030 are children enrolled in CHIP. You may be eligible for Medicaid if you are pregnant, disabled, a senior citizen living in a nursing home or if you are employed in a low-wage job.

These cuts to Medicaid by the federal government will be devastating for Mississippi. It will impact patients, doctors, community health centers, hospitals and clinics, especially in rural areas where they are already struggling. Profits should never come before patient care.
