Thompson (MS-02) is pleased to announce that the National Park Service (NPS) has awarded a $75,000 grant to the Emmett Till Interpretive Center as part of the Underrepresented Communities Grant Program. This funding will support the documentation and National Register nomination of multiple sites associated with the legacy of Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley in Mississippi.

Thompson (MS-02) today announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development's approval of a $50,000 loan guarantee under the Multi-Family Housing Loan Guarantees program to assist with the transfer, assumption, and rehabilitation of Eastgate Apartments, a family Section 515 multi-family housing complex in Belzoni, Mississippi.

Biden will honor posthumously civil rights leader, women’s rights activist, community organizer, and Mississippi’s Second Congressional District native Fannie Lou Hamer with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.   The award will be presented at The White House at 1:00 p.m. EST/ 12:00 p.m. CST.
