Thompson is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded significant grant funding to healthcare organizations and programs within Mississippi’s Second Congressional District. These grants aim to improve maternal care coordination and opioid treatment programs across the state.

The grants, totaling $1,625,000, are part of the Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending program aimed at supporting construction and development in healthcare facilities.

BOLTON, MS – Today, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) is proud to announce that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) has awarded a grant of $1,776,048 to the Mississippi State Department of Health. This grant is part of the Fiscal Year 2024 STOP (Services, Training, Officers, and Prosecutors) Formula Grant Program, which provides critical funding to address and combat violence against women.

Thompson is proud to announce that Batesville, Mississippi, has been selected as one of the twelve projects to receive funding under a new pilot program authorized by Section 165(a) of the Water Resources Development Act of 2020. The project, located in Batesville, will be funded under the Continuing Authorities Program (CAP) Section 14 and will receive 100% federal funding.
