The Presidential Citizens Medal, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors, is awarded to citizens of the United States who have performed admirable deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens.

BOLTON, MS. — Today, Congressman Bennie Thompson announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a significant federal grant to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) through the Bridge Investment Program. This $67,512,520 investment, disbursed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), will support the Central Bridge Bundle project in Lauderdale, Madison, and Newton Counties, Mississippi.

BOLTON, MS. — Congressman Bennie Thompson is pleased to announce a grant award of $307,243 to In Her Shoes, Inc., located in Webb, Mississippi, through USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service Local Food Promotion Program (LFPP),  to support the Advancing Small Farm Sustainability in the Mississippi Delta project.

(Bolton, MS) Today, Congressman Bennie Thompson announced that Mississippi was awarded $33,029,800 in funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Administered through the Administration for Children and Families’ Office of Community Services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this funding will help individuals and families with low incomes pay their home heating costs this winter, and with cooling bills in the summer.

Jackson, MS – Congressman Bennie G. Thompson is pleased to announce that the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has been awarded federal funding for critical improvements to the I-20/I-55 Freight Corridor in Jackson, Mississippi. The funding, allocated through the Nationally Significant Freight and Highway Projects Program (NSMFHP) for Fiscal Years 2025 and 2026, will ensure the modernization and safety of a vital transportation network that serves both the state and the nation.
