Washington, D.C. – Today, President Joseph R. Biden will honor posthumously civil rights leader, women’s rights activist, community organizer, and Mississippi’s Second Congressional District native Fannie Lou Hamer with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.   The award will be presented at The White House at 1:00 p.m. EST/ 12:00 p.m. CST.

Washington, D.C. – Today, President Joe Biden announced Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS-02) will receive the Presidential Citizens Medal. The Presidential Citizens Medal, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors, is awarded to citizens of the United States who have performed admirable deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens.

BOLTON, MS. — Today, Congressman Bennie Thompson announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a significant federal grant to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) through the Bridge Investment Program. This $67,512,520 investment, disbursed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), will support the Central Bridge Bundle project in Lauderdale, Madison, and Newton Counties, Mississippi.
